Argus
Typically, vendors provide asset verification by sending clients' data to external Clouds or vendors, who then analyse it before sending the results back to the client. Certain countries now require that processing take place within certain jurisdictions, and for some clients, data security is of the upmost importance, and the client does not want any data to leave its premises.
To solve this, and because some of our clients are in remote areas where Internet availability and bandwidth can be problematic, preventing large volumes of data from being sent, we developed an “Edge Computing” solution in the form of an on-premises “Battle Box” called Argus. Argus allows us to deploy our latest “Asset Verification” technology without the need for an advanced Internet connection or the data having to be processed outside of the client’s premises.
Argus can interpret images from static cameras and drones using our bespoke models to identify any “Asset” of interest, ranging from Humans to individual vehicles. A single Argus battle box can analyse up to 150 static camera video feeds every second and does not need an internet connection for processing.
Once the targeted asset is identified, it can send alerts across a wide range of channels, from Instant messaging to physical awareness. It only requires a minimal Internet connection, enough to send triggers when it identifies assets of interest.
In summary, all data and analysis are done on-site, on-premises on Argus, and no data is transferred or analysed outside of the internal client's network. This allows us to process and analyse enormous amounts of data very quickly within a ring-fenced environment.
Applications
Anti-Poaching
Veriphy is committed to helping in the fight against poaching. Our models have been extensively trained on human identification from the air and can identify a wide range of assets without the need for human oversight. Combining drone aerial imagery with local static cameras improves the surveillance environment and allows for more targeted deployment.
Border Fence Surveillance
Argus is currently deployed at several sites across South Africa and Botswana, where it helps secure perimeter fencing. We have a unique solution where we use the most affordable cameras backed by bespoke AI models specifically trained for local environments, resulting in a highly effective and cost-efficient security solution.
Unlock Finance
Veriphy’s livestock model is now used by one of the top four banks in South Africa to facilitate and help secure finance or loans for corporates.
The finance is provided on the back of our technology regularly and independently verifying the assets are still on the client’s premises reporting directly to the bank. This allows the Banks to provide Asset Finance their Credit Committees would normally decline.
We are in discussions with financial institutions to roll out a product where they will provide financing to the individual or corporate to install Argus across the perimeter. Then, they will have the opportunity to provide asset-specific financing to the individual, knowing our technology can track and verify where the asset is at any given point.
Gate Monitoring and Law Enforcement Assistance
Veriphy is currently in a POC with a conglomerate of partners exploring using static and dash cam cameras operated by the group who has more than 10,000 active dash cams in operation. The idea is to link this to official government databases to have live surveillance looking for specific assets.
Veriphy is also busy assisting a group who wants to control entrance gates by linking number plates to tour operators and then counting the number of people on open safari vehicles and then systemically integrating into the back end and reconciling expected payment based on number of individuals vs actual payment made.
